1/4 Mile

I am such a newbie at this racing thing. For all you SI own'ers and NON-VTEC how was your first 1/4 mile with your prelude?

How was the progression?

Any reply's will help. Also please don't talk about the h22 motors.

my very first run i was nervous as hell and i ****ed up my first launch bad as hell and just sorta wheel hopped... I was pissed at myself because i got a 16.2, but my next run i nailed everything and got a 15.6, and then the next run i missed 2nd, and then on my last run i shifted out of 2nd too early and pulled a 15.8. I think your best off trying to launch between 3500-4500 rpms...

1/4 Mile Time

Wow you did real good, I did not know how to launch at all, so i sorta took it to 2500 and just dropped it? Should i try a different approach? Like you said:

3500-4500

My 1/4 Mile in my first run was very bad:
R/T .927
60 .2612
330 7.143
1/8 10.936
MPH 64.94
1000 14.188
1/4 - 16.965
MPH - 81.51

But I am a disgrace....

The good thing was that i was matched up against this 5th Gen Prelude SS.... I beat him... He did 17.2 that run, but also it was 2nd run of that night.... and first time dragging.

Again, this was my best run, but i never dragged this car before.
Does the Elevation matter also when Dragging? I figured that I was around 2200 Ft. above sea level.

Thanks For the Help!

Analysis of my bad scenario

I was at stock height, and a CAI...
+ a 240 lb person driving.
Had a lot of stuff in trunk, and also have 1/2 tank of gas.
Running 32 PSI on front tires.

I also didn't know, I had to floor the gas pedal to the metal.
I did so many things wrong.

the first time i ran my 93 si, i spun through first, went into to second too early, hit the rev limiter in third, and ended up with a 16.6. then i dropped my tire presure a little and worked out a better launch. my best of the day was 15.6. i was satisfied with that, since all i got is an intake. i got my best launch feathering the clutch out at about 3500, then punching it. thats just me though. good luck in future races.

My best so far (with koni yellows/neuspeed sports, I/H/E/P, and Kumho Ecsta's at 30 psi):

R/T: 0.695
60': 2.333
330: 6.468
1/8: 9.880
1000: 12.825
1/4: 15.296
MPH: 90.96

That was my 3rd run ever. I hope to improve it when I go back in the next few weeks.

First time at the track, stock, my best was a 16.6. Now at the same track with I/H/E I run 15.9. Elevation hurts. LACR is a slow track.

well Si H23 got a 15.076 @ 90 mph with my 17's and half tank of 87 octain gas. I had a port/pollish job on my intake manifold, butter flies removed, AEM Cold Air intake, fuel pressure increase, Coolany bi-pass, Arospeed wires (nice looking... but dont help lol) Catco highflow cat, and a 2 1/4 exhuast. and had a 2.2 60ft times all the time. but oh wellz... RIP h23 cuz it died a month ago... My new engine is also a h23. with slicks i am hopeing for 13's !! But is has so many freakin mods dont inside of it i cant list them all... cuz they are secret and then i would have to kill you jk peace out. lata

" H23 death story. The Does and Donts"

A big truck smashed my front, fixed my radialtor and all that myself, and went ahead and changed my oil. put my hood back on (looked liek hell) and when i closed it it was stuck and i couldnt pop it up.. oh well.. already had a oil change so no biggy right? i'll just wait till i get my new CF hood in and then check the oil.. well about 2 weeks later i raced the car with low test (went cheap cuz i had to spend like $30 to get in.. it was X-fest import night and wanted to run!! ) well i ran and got my nice little 15.0 with just my h23. well umm i also had a new knocking sound to. after i got my hood in i ripped my old hood off (no.. really... i had to RIp it of ) and while i was in there i checked my oil... Ummm where did my oil go? NONE on teh dip stick... well i put my new hood on and road around with the nice new CF hood and my nice new knocking sound. well maybe it was the lowtest.. nope.. iw as running 93 octain now and it was still there.. so hmm about a month later it got worse and even though it was knocking i tried racing my friends Si civic with 12lbs of boost (he had the turbo) and that is when my knock turned my car into a BIG vibrator haha.. its been parked ever since.. and my new engine is being installed in about a week. I spun 2 rod bearings and my h23 had mitalic oil and metal flakes all in the oil.. yikes.. well yeah.. ALWAYS CHECK YOUR OIL! AND ONLY RUN 92+ OCTAIN !!!
