WW RS Kit help!

I need to take off my WW RS from the lude......Is this fairly easy?
the main concern is the double-sided tape that holds the kit together...would this hurt the paint surface of the car if you just pull the kit out or is there any other measures do you have to take?(like heat blowing to melt the tape or something like that)
appreciate your help!

You might want to use a little laquer thinner or adhesive remover to soften the tape first.

How to go about applying it directly(only) to the tape? is it ok to touch the paint surface?

If the paint is totally cured, it will not get damaged. (it's what you cleaned the contact areas with originally, following the WW directions).
I would try it on a small area first, let it drip down into the crack and soak into the foam. Let it set for a couple minutes and try to pry it loose.
Removing the kit will more than likely cause some cracking of the paint. (even if painted properly with flex agent)

Or just get a heat gun and go to town. (not with the thinner though)

question...so once you take off a piece it really can't be used again unless you remove the double sided tape and apply new ones right?? Has anyone ever successfully done this? How'd you get the tape off?? My right skirt is hanging purely by the bolts (long story why) and I want to remove the old tape and put a new strip. Or is there a kind or glue that would hadle this better??

Black98Lude are you planning on strippping the old tape off too?? can you tell me how you plan on going about doing it and lemme know if it worked?? THANKS!!

you can use 3M double-sided tapes to reinstall the kit...no i am not worried about taking the old tape off, only concern is taking the kit off without any complications and less hassles....
why don't you apply the new tape over the old? gluing the kit does not sound like a good idea......
but don't take my word for it..this is also a learning process for me

anyone help out the dude and I!!!

tape

If you don't remove the old tape the fit will not be as flush, and the new tape will not stick well to the old. I had to strip off the tape on a sideskirt during the install because it did not line up correctly ( I was installing alone). Getting the original tape off was a total *****. I ended up using a putty knife, then some harsh steel wool and lacquer thinner (on the WW piece, not the body). Maybe older tape will come off easier. Just be sure and use the high quality 3M auto trim tape for the reinstall. My brand new paint did crack a little in two spots. I also used the 3M adhesive primer during the install which made removing the piece more difficult. If your pulling this off a repaint (not factory) you might loose some paint from the body as well.

I did apply a strip of new double sided tape onto the old one...doesn't work well...that's why it's coming off. Plus the piece doesn't align right anymore because of the thickness, it's uglier that way too. I prefer not to use glue but I want it to stay on.

Putty knife, steel wool?? Is there an easier way to get off the original 3M?? That sounds like a B*%&# to do. I'm thinking of using a blow dryer and adhesive remover?? You guys think it'll work ok? I'd use a heat gun but it's not like i have one laying around in my garage.

oh and it's help out the dudette and I THanKs!!

eventhough you doubleside tape it, it would not be secure....you need to bolt it on as double security, dudette got a number? go for a coffee?
