a dual exhaust "look". what i mean is have just one functional muffler and the other merely cosmetic. i have the black widow rear bumper that has two cutouts for mufflers. and to balance the look from the rear i thought maybe put a dummy muffler there. i dont' know if it's worth it if i put a y-pipe and make that second muffler functional.
i think as long as you have a BW kit it'll look tight. cars with 2 exhaust cut offs with only exhaust on one side doesnt look right, but your setup should look nice. i know "prelude19" i think thats his sn...has a dual exhaust set up..both fully functional. you should do a search, or consider making it functional. either way it'll look dope with your kit
yes, but picture this, its cold and u pull up ur street, and only white smoke is coming out of ur right exhast, it would look werid, dont be cheap....buy two mufflers and get some custom piping and u will be on ur way

i thought about that. here's the thing though, a buddy of mine did this to his gsr, fabricated a y-pipe off the main exhaust pipe thinkin smoke will exit both muffler the same. turned out that most of the smoke came out of only the right muffler while a very minimal amount came out of the left muffler nad not even consistently. i'm not goin to run two pipes from the cat in order to make this mainly cosmetic mod work right obviously. but everything on my car is functional, and i would like to keep it that way as much as possible, but i know that it would definately make the car look better. i just wonder if it'd be worth it to customize a y-pipe of some sort.
you need to also realize that by having functional dual exhaust, you will be losing a good ammount of backpressure. take it, that freeing up the exhaust is good, but don't go over board. so think about piping diamiter and what no, when considering this. also if its not functional, your just adding extra wieght. if its all for looks an dyou get a kit that suits it, then do whatever. jus my opinion though
So you're saying you want to just put a muffler there for looks....Thats not rice, thats just ***...Don't be cheap by just putting a muffler there. Spend the money to at least have it function or just don't put it there at all

I have the same. There have been a few posts on this recently. I have a y-pipe with a dual setup, exhaust comes out of both, evenly. There is a little low end loss, but nothing huge. Either way, it should be done for cosmetic purposes only.
Perhaps a moot point but why did BW design their bumper with two cutouts when all Preludes are 4 bangers? As it's mentioned above, you'll lose back pressure with duals which doesn't help a 4 banger keep every bit of torque it needs.
i think its totally tyte to have an unfunctional exhaust. i just got mine done yesterday
i have two stock mufflers in the rear and since i shaved all my emblems and my PRELUDE letters and i got my custom rear taillights i have a symetrical rear and i love it. i like the M5, M3 ,corvette look thats why i did it for my MUGEN KIT. ill post some pics tomorrow
I think it's fine to just have that 2nd one be non-functional to balance out the look. Maybe you could eventually make it do *something* like route a smoke machine through it or be able to release an oil slick or something. At least put some fake piping or something so if anyone takes a glance under your car (I don't know how low it is) it doesn't look too odd just having a muffler hanging there.
I actually saw a pair of mufflers that seemed in an odd positions on a Camaro and as it turned I saw that the mufflers were just attached to his rear bumper. Apparently he was running a straight pipe or something and wanted to conceal that fact.
