Windshield rubber molding replacement (help!)

Does anyone know for sure if the rubber decorative windshield molding on these 5th gen cars can be installed without removing the windshield? I was certain it could, but a glass place near me said they may have to remove the windshield to do it, which costs $$ and by the way they may break the windshield as part of this process so be prepared for a huge bill if that happens.

I think it's BS, but wanted to hear from someone who may have had theirs (or done their own) replaced.

I called the tech department at the dealer, who had no idea

I'd tackle this myself but would rather have a glass guy do it (correct technique, correct adhesives, etc.)

Thanks,
String

if they have to remove the windshield, thats true. It's nearly impossible to remove the glass without breaking it.

That doesnt mean they have to remove the windshield.. I had to do in on my last car, it was an integra.. if this is ANYTHING like that, they are just lying to you... and bad.

If you are careful, you could just try yourself.. careful being the key word. If a place says they may break your windshield, go somewhere else. Any mechanic I have used, they break it, they buy it.
