Will a 2001 Honda Prelude transmission work in a 1999 Prelude?

Will a 2001 Honda Prelude transmission work in a 1999 Prelude? The 2001 transmission and the 1999 Prelude are both automatic tiptronic, base models. If so, does it require any other modifications? My 1999 Prelude transmission just malfunctioned and I have been offered a 2001 transmission.
Thanks

swap to a stick! its so much more fun...plus, the ss auto is known to have a slew of problems, (most likely the reason why ur getting a new one in the first place)- i know a guy who soon has to get his 3rd tranny for his 97ss auto. get a stick, and u wont have to worry about that again (except maybe clutch replacements)

What is the cost of swaping an automatic to stick? I mean what modifications are required?

Ok, I know many of you are going to drill me for this one, but NO, a 2001 tranny wont fit in a 99 lude. Believe it or not, and I know many of you are going to say I'm wrong, but I've seen it with my own eyes, and even changed my 98 tranny twice, so here it is: 97-98 ws one tranny. 99-00 another, and 2001, another. Only differences, I know of are the mounting points, and the fluid inlets. I saw this myself, because I once bought a 2001 tranny to put in my 98 and they were obviously different tranny's. Your tranny will have a barcode with a number on it, if memory serves me right, mine was somethng like MA2B4, therefore you would need an identical tranny with same series of #'s. However, buy the 01, make it fit, and tell me I'm wrong, it's your cash. Also, to all of you who suggest swapping, some of us dont have $2000-3000 to drop on a tranny swap, a used tranny for $500 is much easier and cheaper, even if it will clunk out after 60-80K miles.
