Who had their car repainted another color?

I am curious as to what would happen to the factory seals around the sunroof, windows, etc., when the paint shop takes it apart to paint.

Has anyone had trouble with leaks, excess noise or malfunction afterwards..?

Thanks!

They usually take all the seals off to paint the car (trunk weather stripping, sunroof, etc). Not a big problem when the car is being painted a similar colour, but if it's a different colour, then it gets tricky (if you want a good job done). They need to spray in the door jambs, door hinges, trunk, engine bay... it gets expensive really fast. Unless the car is completely stripped (and that means everything including engine out) then it will always be poosible to tell it was originally a different colour.

I don't see much reason to paint the engine bay. Since people will hardly see it. That's the only thing that makes the job extremely expensive. As for the seals, I've never had a problem with anything you mentioned. Take it someone who knows what they're doing, don't be afraid to pay a little bit of money, and nothing should go wrong.

paint

My engine bay is torn apart already. Nothing's there but the frame.

I am worried about the sunroof, etc. I hate to have it leak or make wind noises on me.

Thanks!

i just got my car repainted...everything is fine. no leaks, no sounds, everything is the same. as for the engine bay...i think its better not to paint cuz they have to pull out your engine. MOST bodyshops aren't specailized to do mechanical work...so its best if you dont' pull out your engine. something might go wrong when they put it back in. thats what i think.
