Well, if I remember right, I take Vtec to 7500 in first, if I shift into 2nd, I'm still above, 5250 I think. I'm gonna go figure this out now.

when i race the best outcome is to shift in each gear right before fuel cut, which is at 8k...7800 - 7900 RPM is the sweet spot...u will be in vtec all the way through if u shift as i said...

Usually when it's about to hit red line...I just judge it by the sound of my motor. After awhile, you tend to know when to shift

You need to shift at 8k indicated (it's really 7.5k) on the stock tach to stay in VTEC on each shift.

Hmmmm I used to always shift at 8Kish on my tach as the stock tach is wrong and it's really 7600 when your shifting according to the VAFC. Well after getting dyno tuned I noticed my power hits a brick wall at about 7300 rpms, so I started shifting at the indicated redline on the stock tach. and 1/4 mile times went down significantly. If you shift fast enough you should have no problem dropping below vtec by shifting at indicated stock tach redline or just above it.

I usually take it to 8k in 1st gear and then shift at 7200 for the rest of the gears.

I went out tonight but didn't get to mess with it much. I did however take it in first to about 74-7500 and slammed second. It landed within vtec no problem, probably about 54-5500 rpms. It seemed to pull a lot harder than usual as well. I'm gonna have to go mess around with it some more to really figure it out.

The rev limiter is 7800 on an H22. So if you are shifting just before that you probably are shifting at the 7600 advertised redline.

No, the fuel cut hits at 7600, this can be verified with OBD2 datalogging, looking at a p13 rom, and it is even in the Helms manual.
