Whats a real reason for a cop to look at your engine?

I got pulled over for not having a front license plate (ya really stupid).
The cop told me just to put one on. haha ya right.
Well then he said oh you have a cf hood and an aftermarket exhaust (and my exhaust is completely stock, stupid cop) so you need to pop your hood. I just said whatever and showed him. He saw my intake and didnt see the carb number and got all uptight then i pointed to the number, then he left. And followed me around for about 10 min.

So whats a real reason that a cop can look at your engine?

To be honest cops r dickz....they'll do anything jus to give u a ticket he prolly jus wanted to find any little reason to tow ur car.....as long as all ur sh!t is legit ur straight they can't do much but yea plus they wanna make sure engine isn't stolen(which I see no point in swapping preludes for another motor...H22 FTW!!!) but yea that's pretty much the reasons there

Tell him to **** off (politely mind you!) next time. Don't know about cali, but cops have no right to search through your car unless they have a legitimate reason. Say you'll follow him to the PD and watch him file for a warrant and let him look under your hood and ONLY under your hood after you sign it.

Make the little piggie work if he wants a treat.

You should tell that you have an h22 stashed under the hood and bet him that he can't find it.
