What's involved + cost of converting ATTS car to base 5sp tranny?
Well, I doubt I'll do all of this, but I'd like to know. Besides sourcing a same-year Base 5-speed transmission, what else will I need to change in order to remove Honda's ATTS from my car?

Can anyone shed some light here?
Thanks!
I don't think you need to swap the entire tranny with a base Prelude tranny. From looking at the service manual, it seems like all you need to remove is the ATTS unit, and replace with an intermediate drive shaft from a base Prelude. Afterall, the ATTS unit is located outside of the tranny.

Now that you mention it, yeah. A big, clunky looking thing off to one side. But if the transmission case and bellhousing are cast differently for the ATTS module, then that could pose problems with trans side axle seals.
I dunno-- I need to buy that Helm manual. That is a good point, though, vwong
Ouch....too much work, especially if you have to align the half shaft with a plate. After reading that post, my concern for this is that if the half shaft isn't aligned correctly, you'll ruin your drivetrain eventually. And how sturdy that plate would be to keep the half shaft in place? If it breaks, say bye bye to your drivetrain also. I'd rather just pull out the ATTS fuse.

I dunno. It would seem like that hanger would need an inner sleeve and bearing combination to do that (hold the axle).
As far as I know, the only external differences between the standard and ATTS manual trannys are slightly different castings for clearance and a different set of halfshafts.
You're probably looking at totally different mounting points on both the transmission casing/H22 block and underside of the car unibody. The ATTS unit is almost half the length of a Base axle.
