I HIGHLY recommend Clifford!!

Much better than Viper in terms of sensitivity and protection, IMO!

Has anybody heard anything bout the Aladdin 2000?! Good or bad? I saw it on Group Buy Center and it seems that it has a ton of extra features available and I was interested...is it any good?

Viper!!!

Whatever you get, be sure to get a back up battery and ask for the alarm "brain" to be installed somewhere else...i chose under the seat so that it wasn't easily accesable for thieves.

Viper and Clifford are very similiar, choose one based on the features you want. This sounds repetitive but installation is really more important than model. If the installers do a quicky install your alarm can be easily disabled. You should get trunk pop and consider window automation (now's the time to do it.) Here's some things to insist on, of course they drive the price up over a "basic" install:

1) Add a hood pin, you want any vehicle entry point (trunk, hood and doors) to trigger the alarm. Make sure they do this!
2) The siren should be very hard to get to, disable that and your alarm is all but useless.
3) The alarm brain should not be under the driver's side dash, that's the first place thieves look and it disables the alarm.
4) Get a battery backup, otherwise they can disable the alarm by cutting the battery cable.

how is under the seat not easily accesible? to thieves? If someone wants your car bad enough THEY WILL AND CAN steal it

What are everyone's opinions on products like the AutoLock? I saw it at the auto show, and it basically has a sensor in a chip on your keyring, and when the sensor goes a certain distance from your car (there is another sensor attached to your starter that scans like every 15 seconds or something), the system locks your car. When the sensor senses taht you are within that certain distance again, it unlocks the doors again. If the doors are opened by any means other than the sensor, the system shuts down your starter.........anyone have any experience with these systems?

You are aware that the factory alarm wiring is already in the car and that the unit is very well hidden-just a thought. Yes, I know it doesn't have a lot of extra functions-but it works and you can get a discount on your insurance too.

Just bought the 550 ESP

Got it installed for 650.00. Will start my car when I am in my apartment! I love it! Just got it and everything works. Had a great installer! Does everything I want! Just get what you like. Try and work them down in price!

It's not so much that it's not accessible, it's that 95% of alarm installs place the brain up under the dash. Consequently that's the first place thieves look, if they don't find it there than it's unlikely they'll look elsewhere.

Hey Andy, what options did you end up getting? How do you like the 530t (if you got it?) Let me know how you like the alarm, I got the 600ESP so it's very similiar except no remote start built-in.
