What would be your second choice?

I love my prelude, but at times I get the feeling I want to change it for something else. But what else is there that compares? If you hadn't been able to find your prelude what else were you looking at?

When I bought my Lude back around Aug of 2000, my top 3 choices were: Maxima SE, Prelude SH, and Teg GSR. But that was 2 years ago, 350Z, G35 sedan, and Lancer Evo VIII would be my current choices.

For the last week I've been considering giving in to eternal payments and looking at a '99 M3. I've found some very nice ones for around $24-26k with low miles.

1995 MR2 turbo.
2000+ MRS (MR2 spyder?)
1987~1990 turbo RX7 (FC3S)
WRX
Celica All Trac

I'd take any of these in a heartbeat over the Prelude

Wow, I love that 350Z. NT, is that a prototype, or does C-west actually have a Z like that?

If I'd get a lexus, it'd be a SC430 or a GS400.

Hmmmm, nobody considered the celica GTS? It was between that and the prelude for me pretty much until I drove the celica and the prelude back to back one day. The rest is history.

I did not buy my lude new, so if this is a "showroom" compare my opinion is useless.

However, when sold used the Lude still carries a 2 - 3 grand premium over other sport coupes, at least here in Texas. Of course, everyone here drives trucks so good coupes are hard to come by

Other cars I looked at:
A) Miata. not in the same performance league but damn are they fun to drive (go kart anyone?)

B) Eclipse GS-T or GSX (turbo made me a little nervous on the reliability scale, plus I do not like Mitsus that much)

C) Probe GT (interior too cheap, but my dad had one and it was pretty sweet handling wise, even though it relied on cheap tricks like fat tires and stiff suspension)

D) Celica GT-S (inside was too small for long trips, not quite the same as Honda Quality)

Honestly, all I found myself looking at in the end were Ludes. When the 5G first came out I thought it was ugly as hell, but it grew on me as the years wore on. And besides, it won the "under 30k handling compare" at Car and Driver in SH Form. Also, Preludes had always been the premium sports coupe as far as the materials on the interior (no matter how spartan), handling, and sophistication. I found myself striving for quality over quantity...and I still believe the 5G cannot be beat in that respect.

if any of u guys could of afford lexus, you wouldn't of bought ludes

Soon as my lude is sold, i'm getting a G35 Coupe... 280 HP, 6 speed with 18" rims and rear wheel drive... all standard equipment

0-60 5.7 secs, 1/4 in the low 14's

and not to bad of a price either... $36,000 for everything...
thats about what I have in my lude sad to say

the nice thing about the G35 coupe, is the front area has almost as much room as a maxima of course the back area is smaller, but i never ride back there anyways

but for whats its worth, I had a lot of fun with my lude.... i definatly dont regreat buying it... just time to move to the next level...

The front seats of the G35 are horrible for a car with performance. They are as flat across as a '77 Lincoln, it's my only gripe with that car or I'd say you got it right.

Not true. I could've bought a Lexus but I bought the Prelude.
Though the next car won't be a Honda.

Hey, can't you get an R32 Skyline used from Motorex for like $30K.
That would be sweet.
