What kind of exhaust would this be

I just got off from riding in my friends 95 M3, it has a DTM type cat back system. It sounded so great and got me interested in getting an exhaust system. His exhaust was pretty quiet at idle and only became loud and deep when the car was at higher throttle. Does anyone know what type of exhaust would achieve these. I dont want one thats loud all the time and annoy me to death. Preferably I like dual tips instead of one large tip. I hear Thermal R&D is good for being quiet and has a good sound but do they make the stealth for 5 gens because I like the dual tip

Yes, the dual tip is offered, the only actually, for the 5gen. Search user Cemetups for the hookup.

His muffler isnt stock

It is not stock I remember him picking it out from the shop after it was installed. It it has the DTM tip like the Tanabe DTM had with the tips pointing diagonally up. Anyways, is there a big sound level difference b/t the thermal classic or stealth? Ill talk to cementups later. Thanx

budy dont forget he has M3 thats i6 not i4 a huge difference in sound between two cars. Its not always the exhaust its the engine that give the car a certain rumble sound. M3 has a low rumble even with stock exhaust so you might not get the same sound that you think you going for.

i think thermal stealth is the closest thing of what you are looking for, not very loud and dual tip, mind you that is not a DTM tip. classic is too loud for some people (available only for 4th gen anyway), stealth is definitely quieter. or you don't have to go for a cat-back.
