Dang i wonder if me being a 220LBS bodybuilder makes a difference. All those races that ive barely lost? i was thinking about a CF hood just to compensate for me being a larger than average person. At 9% bodyfat i cant exactly lose too much fat either. Dang i guess ill always be a tad slower that the other luders out there

A shake for breakfast.
A shake for lunch.
Then, a sensible dinner.
It helped Tommy Lasorda take 0.6 secs off his 1/4 mile time.

Eventually, this car will be completed gutted and turned into a full race car. So everything will eventually come out.

But until then things I want to do in the immediate future include:
CF Hood, finish stripping out unnecessary components under dash (heater, etc), remove unnecessary wiring harnesses, take the sunroof & mechanisms out completely and replace with sheet metal plate.

Any other ideas on where to save a few pounds? Besides me!

What do u run ? ?

Things such as headers will lighten the car up quite a bit also. I think that the Mugen headers lop off about 20 lbs off the car's weight (as well as giving you another 5 bhp). Another thing that will lighten the car (slightly) is getting aftermarket suspension parts. I got Cusco stabilizers in my car and not only were they thicker, but about 2~5 lbs lighter. Also the obvious is getting lighter rims-- however extra benefits are to be found there. Every pound you take off the rim is equilivent to 10 lbs off the car. My Sh has 20.9 lb rims, and I can get Racing Hart CP-035 that weigh 12 lbs each. Anyone wanna donate money to my cause?

JUN makes a lightened flywheel, but it isn't cheap

Personally I would go with a kaminari CF hood. They seem to make really quality stuff, but it isn't cheap. The stock hood weighs about 25lbs and a CF hood will weigh in at 10. Honestly I would rather go with a good set of headers (i.e. JUN, MUGEN), gain more power and lose about the same amount of weight.

http://www.kaminari.com/vs.htm
http://www.kaminari.com/new28.htm

Also about the flywheel - it isn't true that it will be equilivant of taking 250 lbs off the car. I think people get confused when they hear the term 'rotational mass.' When you take weight off of things that rotate (i.e. rims, flywheels, crankshaft), you get more "power" in that area, because it is lighter. So the rims will affect handling, the flywheel will affect engine speed (it REVs faster), and a crankshaft will do the same. All of these in turn also give you more "power."

I think that realistically you can hit 2800 lbs in a type SH
my calculations are as follows:
Remove radio&speakers = -30lbs
CF hood = -15lbs
Mugen Headers = -20lbs
lightened Flywheel = -5lbs
lighter rims = -32lbs
Cusco suspension parts = -7 lbs
Prelude @ 2900 lbs

<Things that I wouldn't do:>
Remove air con = - 8 lbs
Remove front seat = -20 lbs
Remove rear seats = -15 lbs
Remove spare tyre = -15 lbs (forgot to mention that this is a quickie)
Remove air resonatior = 2 lbs
Remove carpeting = ??
Remove Sound deadning = ??
But here your Prelude will weight about 2800

Also don't forget certain things add weight, but are beneficifal (i.e. strut tower braces, etc)

have fun all....

i love preludes i would not sell mine but why do wish to race it or make it lighter. Its a quick car but theres so many cars out there that will beat you in it. The best performance upgrade you can do is to learn how to use your car to the max and the only way to do it is to take it either Drag racing or auto crossing. I only have a aem intake and i take it out there stock and have fun. Our cars are heavy are **** and it does not make a good race car. If you crazy to spend money on a carbon fibor hood then go ahead, but if i was you id learn how to use your car to the max becasue youll be amaized at the stuff you can do with it when you start racing it. I had no clue id have this much fun auto crossing this car becasue of it being so heavy and it not being a SH, But ive beat a few SH's out there and SI's and a MR2 turbo and why do you ask, becasue they donot know how to drive there car to the max. try to auto cross and youll see that your car is tight as ****. save your money for when you want to buy your NSX then blow every dime and penny on that LOL. Goodluck just have fun

Bust out the reciprocating saw and carve out the entire spare tire well and then weld on an aluminum plate.

It's stronger and lighter!

After that you can remove that evil gas tank get a lightweight racing fuel cell and mount it to your new aluminum plate.

Oh yeah... you don't really NEED that gas cap. (2 oz.)
