Weird Holes in Cylinder Head - Need Help Identifying

I took off my valve cover today for painting and while looking around inside the head I noticed these two irregularly shaped holes in the head near the cam gears. Is there a reason for these being there? Should I be worried about it? Sorry the photo is not the best but I think you can see how oddly shaped they are. Almost looks like something has eaten through the metal. It's a 1997 SH with 190K miles and as far as I know it's never been modified in any way.

those are from the casting of the aluminum. those holes are there and can be irreglar shaped as they are only oil drain back holes. dont worry about them.
