Weird Clutch or Transmission Problem

I'm having this problem with my car when I shift. When I disengage the clutch and try to put my car in gear, it is extremely hard to shove the lever into a gear. It is as if the clutch isn't totally disengaged, but only partially. After I get the car moving, shifting is alright, but at first it is very hard. It seems like when I fully disengage the clutch by pressing my clutch pedal all the way down, it isn't really fully disengaging. Sometimes with the pedal pushed all the way down, my car shakes like it is going to stall. One time it actually did. Does anyone know exactly what this could be? I don't think it is the transmission since shifts are fine once I get the car going. I think its more so the clutch. Any ideas?

You need a new clutch most likely. The springs are probably close to falling out or are pretty messed up. I was having the same problem as you. I figured it was the clutch. Got a new one. Problem solved.. and oh yeah.. When I looked at my old clutch, the springs were worn down and two was on the verge of falling out.

do a search on clutch failure- then go to the nhtsa site and file a complaint if yours is actually broken. www.nhtsa.dot.gov

yep sounds very much like the clutch. I had a similar problem. The first time was when I was locked into a gear. I couldn't move the shifter out of first. After my friend got it out of the gear by rocking the car while pulling on the shifter, it was fine but it was very hard to get into any gear. I felt like I was putting way too much force into the shifter in order to get into a gear. Turned out that the clutch and one of the bearings were bad.

I have a very heavy clutch that only has about 6k miles on it. I think the autoshop that installed it didn't do it properly. Thanks guys.
