Um, well dont laugh!
I have been doing some weight reductions and as a part of them the actual front bumper is off. NOT the cover just the 50 lbs of metal under it. Same as the rear. I ve also taken out the spare. I also have a catback exhaust and cold air intake and i have a 50 shot of nitrous. I am planning to get some lighter wheels too. I know the front bumper is dangerous to have off but just wanting some fellow luders opinions.
is being .3 seconds faster really worth the risk? I can see doing it for one day before you go to the track, but good god, its not worth it just for every day driving
Man if u take your car into inspection u would fai, cuz u have no protection from your bumper to u put the metal stuff back on don't risk your life for that .3 seconds like fierce said

Well I removed my rear bumper support and weighed it in at 26lbs. I left the front bumper support intact due to collision protection and the fact that the front bumper would sag horribly with it removed. Here's a list of my current weight reduction...
1) Carbon fiber hood- 30lbs
2) Rear bumper support- 26lbs
3) Spare and Jack- 45lbs
4) Rear seats, trunk and carpet lining- 20lbs
5) Weight savings due to aftermarket parts- 15lbs
I also removed the resonator, cruise control, and a few heat shields which add up to about another 10lbs.
Total weight savings: 146lbs, probably worth .2 off my 1/4 mile time at most...

Take off as much roational mass as possible. Like light weight rims that are same size as stock ( or 15s) and flywheel. You will notice much more difference.

About 27lbs for the passenger seat.
For the people removing their bumper supports... You'd better hope that you don't get into an accident. If you do, your insurance co may have grounds to not cover the damage when the body shop tells them how you had removed the bumper support. And if they do decide to cover the damage, they will likely drop you after the claim...
And, w0rdie, why would you remove just the styrofoam from under the bumper cover? What does that weigh? 4oz.? It is there to absorb impact in a light bump so that your bumper cover does not get damaged...
