Walk-Through on replacing the Slave & Master Cylinder

What's up guys,

I spent the weekend leisurely replacing the slave & master cylinder on my '00 Lude. So I'm going to spread the love and post up the procedure for replacing these parts on a 5th gen Prelude

Master Cylinder:

1) Use a suitable siphon or a clean turkey baster to remove the old fluid, or remove the clutch master cylinder reservoir bracket mounting bolts and pour the old fluid into a suitable container.

2) Clean the reservoir thoroughly using a clean shop cloth or paper towel.
Disconnect the clutch pipe from the master cylinder.

3) Remove the reservoir hose from the master cylinder reservoir.

4) If additional room is needed, remove the driver's side lower dash panel and the following items from under the dash:
  • Remove the cotter pin on the clutch pedal rod.
  • Remove the clutch pedal pin out of the yoke.
  • Remove the master cylinder retaining nuts.

5) Remove the clutch master cylinder from under the hood.

6) Installation is the reverse of removal.

Slave Cylinder

The slave cylinder is simpler to replace then the master

1) Locate the slave cylinder mounted on the transaxle assembly, near the radiator.

2) Remove the flare fitting and steel line from the slave cylinder assembly.

3) Remove the slave cylinder from the clutch housing by removing the attaching bolts.

4) Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.

5) Fill, then bleed the clutch system, using a suitable DOT 3 or 4 brake fluid.

You're relaying us information that's already in the HELMS manual.

If this included tutorial pictures of you doing this work yourself, it would be considered a writeup. But it's just everything from the HELMS with a picture from Hondapartsnow
