I just talked to Honda of BP and apparently there's a waiting list for replacement SS trannies. I'm #21 and the guy's guesstimating a 2 week wait for the poor thing. Trannies come from Japan and they're not in a hurry to produce these asap. At least honda is nice enough to pay for everything: replacement tranny and labor, even the rental car.
see......some people just get exceptional service and full coverage while others (such as myself) get screwed over, left with a broken car $1600 in service bills no loaner car for 2 weeks and counting and a gracious VOID stamp on the warranty......all due to a simple, AEM CAI
Yeah they're made in japan according to the honda mechanic. He was a really cool guy, I had him verify that my aftermarket parts didn't cause the failure and him (an import enthusiast himself) saw they didn't cause the failure. icecube sorry to hear about that i was just reading your other thread, you really should consider other dealerships and contest what that one dealership did. I guess it really depends on how certain dealerships deal with servicing the aftermarket car.
if only if it were the individual dealerships fault
extended warranty is under the honda-care program......covered by honda-care which is a separate firm that is located in some other state that handles all extended warranties at every dealership
therefore, no matter what dealership i go to......they've got their hands tied by honda care.......so as long as honda care says no...no dealership can do nething about it (not that they would want to go through the trouble to fight for the little guy anyway)
I had mine replaced just last week. I had to wait just a couple of days and mine was DEFINITELY a rebuilt transmission! If someone is getting a new one from Japan, I would really like to know why and how?

that sucks icecube, you should put up a petition against honda care, so many people use aftermarket intakes and they don't do any damage at all. And the abuse excuse, how do they determine you're abusing your car just because you put in your own intake anyway I think that's BS.
KentRagay: I understand that ALL Prelude transmissions are originally made In Japan.. but are you sure that the one that you're waiting for is being shipped from Japan? to my knowledge Honda has never issued a recall on the SS trannys and the only thing they replace a broken tranny with is a "remanufactured Honda transmission," not a new one.
Hmm, I'll have to call the mechanic up again on that then to make sure. If it's a remanufactured tranny I'd really like my car back by this week at least it's already been 2 weeks and I hate my ford escort rental car
yeah call him up, double-check, and let us know! good luck and remember that you're at least getting better service than ice1cube. poor guy

Yes, not everyone gets the service some people get. I got a thumb up the a$$ when I asked for help with my tranny. 30000 miles on my car, but it was a 97 so the warranty was void. Honda sucks when it comes to helping people out with the SS, that's why I started HSC.
