Vtec problem(?)

Ok, so i was pushing my car the other day at the tracks and was getting ready to shift at 8000rpm, as the tach needle reached about 6900rpms(which is in VTEC), the needle started to drop and the engine would not push any further(forcing me to shift to a higher gear). So the question is... Is this a mechanical problem with my engine? or was it just my rev limiter kicking in? If it was my rev limiter, then dosn't your engine bog down and stall on you? And if it was the rev limiter, does it kicks in that early on you????(6900rpms). Thanks for any input.

that would be my guess is that your oil was low or that you car was not up to temp. Did it happen when you were in a corner, or changing lanes because when my car is low on oil or is not filled to the top and I shake the car my v-tec will kick off and it sounds like what you are talking about. hope this helps good luck

yes..... i got on my car when it wasnt fully warmed up and it hit a limiter at about 6900 also. so i think their is a limiter around there

if you were at the track maybe you got some oil strvation problems, have you looked into a baffled oil pan? are you gonna go to the track alot...... then again, by track do you mean drag or road style because i doubt the baffled oil pan would help at the drag?!?

I put 4 1/2 quarts when i did the job and did check the stick and saw that it was between the min and max points....and i was at a 1/4 mile drag strip by the way.

No i dont think its my vtec solenoid because my vtec is working fine, dosn't seem to have any problems at all. It just feels to me more like a rev limiter thing now.

I added another 1/2 a quart today and tried again, but the same thing happened again... on the tach, it looks like it cuts off right around 6900rpms, but on my VAFC, i says 6505rpms.....so im guessing thats where Honda sets ALL our rev limiters at? Thanks.
