Vibrant Header Info

wattup havent signed on in a while hope all is well... just installed my new vibrant header.. i like it! anyway i contacted one of their sales reps via email regarding rumors that their product mirrors its mugen counterpart and heres what he had to say.. (copy/paste)...
Hello Eric,

The outer diameter of the collector on our H22A header is 2.25." This size allows you to bolt up to the stock catalytic converter on your car as well as mate up to most aftermarket exhaust systems.

In terms of design, most people who have this header compare ours to the Mugen based on its performance. You can see an increase of 9-12 horsepower when bolting up our header. This power is generated by our inlet porting and straight 2" extension of the primaries off the head before they curl down underneath the oil pan (see attached picture). While we share a similar primary design, our collector design is different.

Few manufacturers have adopted theses design characteristics to produce maximum power and street drivability. However people tend to think our unit is a replica because it makes about the same power as the authentic Mugen unit for a lot less money.

Feel free to contact me should you have any further questions.

Best Regards,

... so anyway, hope this answers some of your questions... if this is already common knowledge circulating about PO.com forgive me, remember i havent signed on in a while. peace everybody
-eric

It will bolt-up, but it's wrong. Saying the 2.25" mates with the stock cat because they are both 2.25" is just not true, as it's a 2".

I will fit, but it will not be identical. It won't make to big a difference though, and if it bothers anyone just get a 2.25 high flow to match it.

The one I bought did, but mine isn't a "prelude" cat. It's a 5300 series that is 2.25" with an O2 bung and 13" or so length. The flanges have to be welded on with this type. You can also get magnaflow to get one that fits the prelude in 2.25" if you rather have them weld it.

EDIT: You can get them bunged or un-bunged etc

so overall - is the header comparable to any other mods you've done? Worth the price in your opinion? Ive been considering this header for so long but have yet to just get it. Thinking about putting it on at the same time as the blacktrax intake manifold spacer pretty soon - just looking for an in-depth review, hows low end, mid and high compared to stock?

well i guess it depends on what u think is worth what... if just knowing that u have a base to build on means something then hell yeah its worth it... if youre looking for a for a drastic increase in power youre not gonna find it... dont get me wrong i can feel it, especially first and second gear vtec... just pulls harder, then again it might just be wishful thinking, i love hitting vtec regardless... anyway 3 beers later, make this a priority over an IM... complete a basic exhaust setup before going that route... all in all, yes its worth the money if its someting u want... and for what its worth, sounds mean as fukk

I've measured the inside diameter of the Vibrant collector and its a shade over 2.25" despite them saying the O.D. is 2.25". I guess it's actually 60mm O.D. which would get the I.D. to just about what I measure.
