Ugly orange piece in tail lights and blinkers? Best way to get rid of it?
Hey, i'm not so worried about the front, i could just break the amber, or simply get new blinkers (clear), but i'm not sure how to go about getting the tail light blinker to clear out, any suggestions
i've only seen the tail cleared once before, and it looked sharp
The best method is using a drill and drilling holes into it and then getting a screwdriver and hit it w/ a hammer until it breaks then get the small pieces out
97BlackLude I understand what your saying....i tried to do mine today the NTPOG way......and i melted my housing alittle soo i stopped....the soldering iron tip is almost as big as the bulb hole and you neeed very steady hands to melt it successfully....... But im going to try that drilling method any suggestions?

Takes time but well worth it Just don't break anything please
i did it on my buddies lude i perfer the amber in my tail lights.
it took like 2 hours or so.
i did it the same way black lude suggested
it takes time but the hardest part is to not mess up the black housing where the bulb fits.. i did alittle bit. but no much to where the bulb wont stay...

For the front signals...I just went animal style and drove a screwdriver and pliers in there and twisted and broke the fuk out of it...came out nice if I don't say so myself
But if you want to do a clean job, use a soldering iron.
The taillights you have to be careful...so I didn't even touch that
drilling leaves more lil orange flakes or specs that are hard to get out.....the easiest way....its to ship them to me w/ 25 dollars plus shipping back to you 35 for front and back

okay, this is the easy way, it took me 5 minutes for the fronts, and 20 minutes for the rear.
FRONT:
1. get a screwdriver (philips, flat, whatever)
2. hit the orange thing out of place
3. get some needle nose pliers
4. stick the pliers inside, and get a hold of the orange piece
5. twist the orange piece until it breaks
6. repeat #5 until done
7. repeat for other turn signal
SIDE NOTE: There WILL be scratches on the top and bottom of the turn signal, these will not affect the lighting, nor be seen by other people. This method is by far, the quickest way to do this. No need to mess with the soldering iron or drill.
REAR:
1. get an electric drill
2. drill a square opening directly underneath the orange thing
3. pull the orange thing out
4. put the piece of plastic you drilled out back in place
5. use silicone sealant to put it back together
6. repeat for other taillight
SIDE NOTE: If you dont mind hacking a hole in the bottom of your taillight, then this method is the way to go. You WILL have to remove the silver piece on the inside of the tailight. This piece can be put back using the silicone sealant. If you choose NOT to put the piece back, no need to worry, the hole isnt visible from the outside. With this method, you will get NO orange flakes.
I have done 4 Fifth Generation preludes this way. So far, no leaking, no fogging up, and no negative feedback from my friends. If you choose to go the "slow and careful" way, then by all means, go ahead, but, if you want this job done in less than an hour, I suggest you do it this way. There is no way that you will harm any pieces of your car if you clear it out this way. If you need more details, email me HwangjaAZN@attbi.com. If no questions, good luck, and I hope you save a good amount of time by clearing out your turn signals this way. later
Damn u guys make it seem like its so complicated.. after i did the front ones i was like "damn i can do the rear ones easily. Wel the front was easy, i used a soldering iron and melted two horizontal lines through the amber lens, and pulled it out in one peice, barely scracthed it. Only problem, i melted the hole where the bulb goes in.. ONLY A LIL, the bulb still fits perfectly! As for the back.. i used a soldering iron too, the back is much harder and ***... the hole is so tiny! And the amber lens is so much thicker, ugh. Well that one took longer, but i managed to do it, but i also melted the hole a lil, but the bulb will still go in properly with no problem, and it'll stay. As for the lil flakes that get stuck in the rears, this is wut i did... Since there's holes for many bulbs, brake lights, reverse lights etc, in one hole i put an air compressor, and turned it on, and on the otherside i turned on a vaccuum.. and got all that crap out =-).. And since everyone is askin for money here, i'll do it for 20 bucks! 30 bucks front and rear! u guys pay for shippin though! hahaha j/k, if u live around me i'll do it for free man, and u guys can watch me do it... if u dont mind meltin the holes a lil... they're fine though. =-)
some one thats good at clearing tail lights, should charge ppl like 20 bucks.. and have them send you their lights u clear them and send them back...thats what some guy i know does and he makes a good 100 bucks every month...he does it for avengers tho
hell i suppose i would do it for 20 bucks for the rear and 10 for the front too.....just so the person pays shipping to and from.. i'd do it.....as many people that wanted them done.

I have vacummed out all the orange flakes. Sh1t honestly i would pay svlvteclude to do it personally so no worries about breaking them. Seems like he would do a good job
Dood seriously if u guys live somewhere near so. cali i'll do it for free. If ur worried that i'll melt the housing i wont its so minor its irrelivent, water wont get into the housing at all, it never fogs up, the bulb still fits perfectly. You can't tell the diff.. *shakes head* charging money.... oh well if u guys live around here i'll do it for free.. if u wanan ship it and stuff i'll do it for 20 for all 4 =-P
