From what I just read it's dealing with a 4th Gen swap using the JDM distributor, can I use a USDM distributor on an JDM head mated to a USDM block for a 5th gen?

^read marcucci's post in NTPOG on "JDM H22"

The jdm will need your US distributor, and oil pump if you use the US ECU. This way emmissions can be passed.

I'm guessing with modification you can use the JDM ECU though. <--- Remember though in Japan they run over 95 octane as the "premium". I think they have 104 octane or 101.

^ From what I understand...no. Do you use the JDM ecu or the US? I think that's the main thing.

Hey Michelle, IIRC, there is no ODBII in Japan. I don't think they have the same emissions restrictions that we have in the states.

hmotors told me the one i bougth was a obd2 car. the jdm engine doesn't have a crank position sensor becuase its in the distributor or something, so we used the jdm distributor so we wouldnt' have to hook up the sensor. the engin is already in with all the jdm parts. i guess we'll wait and see if i pass.

I'm confused! Is your engine JDM or USDM? JDM engines are not OBDII, but you can use the stuff off a US motor so that it will behave like one.

^ I thought Japan didn't use OBD anything? Due to different emission laws. OBDII I thought was a US gov. thing.

+2. Does it sound the same as a regular USDM motor or is it louder? Cuz I heard louder = faster.
