Type S intake

Anyone know if an intake off a Type S prelude would perform just as good or close to an aftermarket brand cold air intake?

The Type-S should only be bought for novelty. It wasn't offered as an option in the US because it was designed for the higher compression Japanese engine in the Type-S. Putting it on an H22A4 actually decreases performance slightly.

Research has shown that the best performing air intake for a Prelude is the AEM V2 and the JDM Type S (but they are also the most expensive).

And the gains by either were nothing to talk about really over stock.

Blake did the testing and it was my V2 he used. It was the 1st version with the oiled filter. They now come with a dry filter instead. I paid shipping both ways he paid for the dyno time.

^This, the dyno plots are on honda-tech (do some of you not go there?) so for the little bit of power you do gain with an intake, yes, type s with a k&n filter is top next to the V2.

The Type S also looks stock and causes no "where's the sticker" issues at smog check time. That's in California.

The V2 is also carb legal and has a sticker right on it in plain sight of any inspector.

V2 or any other CAI will give you more HP at high RPMs but you will lose low end torque. The type S might give you a little more power than the stock USDM intake but you will retain the low end torque. Ever noticed why your CAI is so boggy down low?
