Trunk Spring Replacement
Recently I had some problems with my trunk springs. One of them got knocked out of alignment somehow (probably from me forcing the trunk closed with luggage back there. I was able to pry the so called spring off, luckily without injury to myself. Tried to put it back on with no avail. Did some research and saw that there is a special tool to do this with. The part number that I saw (don't have it on me) was not available anywhere I looked. One place let me order, just to call me a few hours later and say the part is no longer made.
Does anyone know if there is an updated part number that switched it out, or if there is any tool out there to use. Or do I have to suck it up and go to dealership and nicely ask to just use theirs? I don't have the greatest relationship with the dealership where I am at right now, on account of their attempt to screw me and wasted many hours of my time. Would rather just pay 10 bucks and do it myself, and have the tool for anytime in the future.
Thanks for the help
Edit: 99 Type SH - with some JL Audio 6x9s that may have been part of the spring alignment issue...but it lasted 9 years before it got out of alignment so I figure might as well get 9 more with good sound, than crap sound. I just feel ghetto wedging the trunk lid open with my ice scrapper.
