Tranny Selection Question

Hey guys as many of you know by now I have a 97 base where the previous owner swapped in the SiR H22A, but he also swapped the tranny at the same time. My question is why would he have elected to install the M2S4? I've tried doing some research on it and it seems to have been from the H23 92-96 Prelude?? Is this typical for the swap to come with this tranny?

He may have needed a new trans for some reason(grind) and that was the cheapest, easiest one he could get.

Also thought I might add: I think this is going to be a good reason to start trying to source a M2B4...if I can...I called one place already (online distributor of full JDM swaps) and the guy said he didn't have any in stock but if he did they would be $600... I was a bit shocked I was expecting a MUCH higher price tag...

Lastly the only other reason I could think of as to why he may have wanted that tranny with the taller gears is for a boosted application...
