What makes you think its going? I have 71k on my original tranny, I beat it and am probably putting more power through it than you are. I'm just wondering what makes some crap and others fine. Hope you still have the PTS kit and sorry about the problem, I'd be pissed too

the way it seems...

Seems like the ****ty trannys went out at around the early stages. do you guys think that since my tranny has 45000 miles and counting, it's a descent one, or do you guys think that something is bound to happen like everyone else'z ? ?

this damn topic gets me worried every 2 or 3 weeks, after reading about all these stupid breakdown stories...Damn SS

not sure why everyone complains about their tranny. everyone i know with a prelude has never had a tranny problem (about 12 people i know decently well) they grind on occassion but thats pretty standard for all manual hondas. i've got 103k on stock tranny and stock clutch...no problems whatsoever.

Tranny question

Hello. i have a 2000 prelude with 17K miles on it right now. My warranty lasts 7 years. I have put some modifications on my car.. does this break my warranty? If so, when my tranny breaksdown.. can I still bring it to the dealer to have it rebuilt under warranty? or I must pay for it..

Sorry to hear it, bro. Man, I have 30K on mine now, and last week I was cruising down the street at about 40 mph and part throttle, fourth gear of course and the tranny in SS mode, and I felt the tranny slip twice. First time it has ever done that. I know it was slippage. I used to drive a 70 Chevy Nova that had a bad tranny leak, and I would find out that the fluid was low when it started slipping So I know what slippage feels like. Hasn't happened since, but I now fear that the end may be near....

That's not slippage, normal for 4th to act that way at that speed. Heard it explained before, somehting about the TC going in and out of lockup mode? Mines done it from day one, has never changed, so I keep in third when cruising at that speed.

Im still curious as to the causes of the SS failure? Is it like inferiorly constructed/assembled parts? Overheating? What is it? My friends SS failfure was diagnosed as failure due to overheating of the parts or something. Could an aftermarket transmission cooler solve this?

It's NEVER happened before, I have had it for two years, and I know what tranny slippage feels like.

Sorry to hear about that, but Honda is gonna fix it for ya for free cos you're still under their warranty?

If you do get a new car after, might I suggest a Toyota Supra TT of course
