Trading in SS for 5speed?

Hey guys, welll for the longest time, I really wanted to trade in my SS for a manual but I do have mods or watnot. Would i be able to take it somewhere and still trade it in or do i have to take out all the mods? I mean i dont wanna go through all the hassle to remover everything and take it and cant find a good deal and put it back on. So to save time i would rather just sell the car as it is now. I understand i might lose money but is that possible?

Yes it's possible, they will take it as is. If i were you, i'll try to return the car as stock as possible so they can give you the best value for it or even sell the car to a private party. You can make decent money for selling aftermarket parts, it's a hassle to remove them but it's worth it. When I traded in my SS, they gave me a week to replace and remove some parts or I could've left all the parts there.

Whatever you do, good luck. You might have to settle for a used 5 speed since they don't sell brand new preludes anymore.

Drive till the tranny ****s the bed and swap it to 5sp.

Unless you find someone to give you good money for it trade ins for modded cars are not a good idea.

If your car is just lightly modified (intake, exhaust and even a header) I would take them off. My SS died and I'm looking at doing a 5 speed swap, and it looks like I can get it done for aroudn $1200 for parts plus the labor (which I might do myself). I think as long as your car runs fine just trade it in, and bolt on your aftermarket stuff on a 5 speed. If you do a swap and want to sell the car in the future, you won't get as much as you would with an auto. However if you keep it for a while and even sell it modded, the people who will be interested will want a 5 speed, so it might be a wash. And the price diff between a 5 speed swap and a auto will cancel the lost made when selling the car, except for the time it is down.

Hey, well i was wondering if it's possible, for those who's tranny went out and your car is stil under warrentee, would they do a 5speed swap or would it come from my pocket? Also how much is a 5 speed swap? like including labor and everything. Would it be easier that way?

Easier to sell and get a different one. I assume you would have problems with Honda warranting anything unless you have them do it, that would be costly. Take you stuff off and and get a manual if you are really interested in manaul.

Why are you going through all of this trouble? What do you plan to do with the car?

I JUST returned my car to STOCK the other day..... cause I'm trading it in for a 5 speed. I/H/E/P/V-AFC/OEM Body Kit/Suspension.... EVERYTHING right down to the lighting and lenses. Dealers DO NOT like modded cars.... they're probbly take it, but will not give you near as much money.......

i just went thru the exact thing..i was going to trade my 01 EBP SS for a 01 White base..dealer was very worried about intake/drop etc and wanted me to remove everything in 4 days..the mods only bring the value down. bad part is i returned the car to stock and ended up not tradeing cuz i like this color better lol..hopefully i'll do a 5speed swap later. To answer your question Yes it is possible to sell it with mods, but i wouldn't go to a dealer..try private parties or the small dealerships since they often buy/sell cars as is.

haha yea if i can go back in the past, i would rather get a type r or a used m3 or watnot. Just wondering, whould i take it to the dealers and ask them for a quote on my car with the mods i already have? Also what do you guys think about carmax? they have used preludes for good price.
P.S. my car is under 2 people like co-sign, would these people have to show up when i trade it in or can it just be me and one of those person. thanks for ur reply's it's helping

Also for the one who asked me what am i going to do with it, I am going to do EVERYTHING. I wanted to do it on my SS lude but tranny is bad and won't be fun and fast as a manual. I mean i want the fastest sexiest lude out there, hehe no offence to anyone. That's my dream, my lude in all mags saying the dream lude, hehe, please dont make fun, we all have dreams and my dream is my car, my first baby

if the registration says your name AND the co-signers name, then they have to show up..... if it says your name OR the co-signers name, then you can do it by yourself...... example -

Bob Smith AND
Steve Smith (Both parties must show up)

Bob Smith OR
Steve Smith (Only one party has to show up)

yea thats the one, he was giving me that one for 20K and buying my 01 SS with 34K miles for $17,500. that was just the starting point, he said we can still work on it, so i would've got the 5speed for bout 2 grand, but lots of people said they liked my color too much, plus my girl was against it so i ended up keeping it..EBP looks sweet man..i'll probably end up doing a swap on this later

I had a 99 ss ( it sucked ) and when i went to trade in they said the trade in value would be lower with all the mods on. So i put it back to stock and get me a 01 5sd , **** the difference in performance is night and day.

Haha yea, I drove a 5 speed manual, so much difference. man that kind of sucks if ur telling me both parties have to show cuz they moved so there's no way I can get in contact with them. So basically I'm stuff wit my SS right? well the registration says my dad's name and the co signer, can my dad only show? Also if I cant trade it in, does anyone know how much it will cost to get a swap for everything even installation? Also I love my color as well, crystal blue, so freaking sexy. All the ludes I looked at are white, green, and red. I dont like those colors except the white but i think black and crystal blue looks the best on ludes, no offence to anyone
