Toyo T1-S Proxes Tires - any opinions

any of you know much about these tires...as to whether they are good or not.

I currently run Yokohama A520s which I like a lot. I was debating about getting a set of T1s but don't now much about them. they are more expensive..but that doesn't always mean better when it comes to tires.

the A520s are pretty damn good for the money. For $90/tire they stick like crazy. they wear out fast, but they stick. I have read bad reviews of tires more expensive which were compared with the A520s.

I wonder if the toyos would be a little better or a LOT better....

any help is appreciated.

If I were you I'd probably stick w/the A520's if you can (since they've been discontinued) .. The T1-S's are a good tire but from what I've heard they don't stick like the A520's .. the T1-S's have a softer sidewall than the A520's as well ... I'm just coming off a set of A520's and I did like the performance.. they just wore out quick and made alot of noise..

Anyway, I decided to try out the RE730's which have similar performance but should last almost twice as long.. they're supposed to be noisy too but I figure I'm already used to a car with noisy-a$$ tires.. heh..

I had a set and they hooked up good even on nitrous in 1st gear. They just wore out fast. now I have Paradas and I don't like them as much as the T1-S's. I've never had A520's to compare.

I've got the TS-1's and I love em. Can't really give you a comparison since these were my upgrade from the stock tires that were worthless. Anything would be better than those. I can't guess on treadwear either since I only put 4K on them last year, but even with nitrous they are wearing way better than the stockers!

I've had all of them...

23109VC: You can see my responces about the Toyo and the Yoko on the Honda-tech board. I don't feel like typing it out again.

RE-730 opinion..

It's the middle grade of these three tires .. sorta.

Total grip: Probally the lowest of the three
Handling: Better transitional responce than Toyo's but not Yoko's.
Ride quality: Toyo is the best, then the RE-730's then last Yoko.
Noise: Toyo then RE-730's then Yoko's.
Tracking: only Yoko's have this problem
Rain: Toyo's "is it raining?", Re-730's are alright but they get real hard in water and cold weather. Yoko's I haven't had much experience with in rain yet.

Best street tire: Toyo's
Best track tire: Yoko
Best of both.. RE-730's ... sorta. If the Toyo's had stiffer sidewalls I'd put them here. It's the only downfall of the Toyo's

up to you which you want.

I am also thinking about getting Toyo T1-S tires. It depends on the price and I would like opinions on there noise. After a bit more research I am gonna try and get 215 tires on my stock 16" wheels which currently have 205 tires on.

I'm currently running Toyo T1-s for some 25K miles. There's still a lot of tread left, looks like it'll last for another 10K miles. Anyway they're good tires, but one thing I hate about it the most is that the sidewall is too soft. I cant take sharp turns too fast, the minute I do the sidewall starts rolling over and you gotta slow down. I've heard that toyo's melt fast if you autocross.

My next tires were gonna be the new bridgestone S0-3's, I've heard they're really good(better than toyo's if you ask me). But now Falken came out with these new Azenis RS tires, they look really good and cost about $100 a pop. Only down side is that they dont have stock tire size, you'll have to go with 215/45/16. I might end up going with the falkens.

Thanks for all the info guys. I really appreciate it.

I'm probably just gonna go with another set of the Yok A520s. I really love those tires. The toyos are a LOT more expensive, about $139/tire was the quote the guy gave me. I can get the Yoks for about $90/tire. That's a big difference when you're buying four, and if the difference isn't night and day, it's not worth it to me.

everyone says the yokos are noisy, but I don't have a problem with that. I've either got my system cranked up, or the engine revved up, so I don't really hear my tires...

I guess if it aint broke, don't fix it...I'll buy another set of Yoks.

you have to admit, for teh cheap price, they are REALLY nice tires. GReat grip, stiff ass sidewalls....I ran my yokos so hard that I slid off teh road, into some gravel, and tore up my sidewalls pretty bad. ONe of the tires had a "blister" like a bubble, the size of a golfball!! the other tire had a gouge chopped out of the sideall that was pretty deep..I took it to the tire shop and they were like 'you have to change these out NOW' they said it was a ticking time bomb. I figured I'd let them go until they blew since I mostly just drive back and forth to work....mostly....anyway..that was over a YEAR ago....no probs....they look teh same,,, blister/gouge, and they still go liek stink....tough sidewalls...I read there is a steel reinforcement in there...i guess teh rocks didn't puncture that....
