Im going about 18200 miles on original set of tires, the potenzas RE92s or something, i read reviews and they totally suck ass. Since some of the tread is getting a little low I am thinking about a new set of tires, I am on stock rims 205/50/16. What I am looking for are these aspects: good treadwear, low road noise, good handling, and most importantly a reasonable price. I have searched tirerack.com and come across these:
Looking at the ratings they are pretty good, and only 78 dollars a tire compared to the 130 dollar stock POS tires It seems the kumhos have even better treadlife than stocks so I am really interested in these. Anyone have any other suggestions for 205/50/16 tires? I do not want to spend a lot because tires are friggin expensive. Thanks

Dont buy the Toyo FZ4 tires, they are about $100.00 each and they basically suck in the dry and the wet. I replaced my front stock ones with these... and the tread is lasting pretty good... but over all I am not that impressed. I would go with the next level up from these i think they are called TS or something... someone else here probably knows for sure. good luck.

Performance dry tires suck in rain any way you look at it. I rather have better dry traction than wet. I never go fast in bad rainy weather anyway and maybe tires that are worse in rain will stop others from speeding away. I've seen too many people destroy their rides cause of rain. I've had a set of Yokohama Parada and they lasted around 17k miles. Great traction on dry and wet wasn't horrible. Now I have Kumho Ecsta 712 and it seems the handling is even better now with the Kumho's. Cheap tires and great.
Wet traction doesnt bother me much, I dont drive fast in the rain anyways. ARGH I checked on discounttire.com and the kumhos are 110 each. I really want a road hazard warranty for these seeing my past history with my bad luck of getting nails and flats. I have to buy the tires from the place in order to get the road hazard warranty. I still cant believe these sell the stock POStenzas for 130, ive seen 18 inch paradas around for 10 bux more. Thanks for your replies, any other suggestions?

Good performance tires shouldn't have much difference between dry and wet. Check out the Bridgestone S03 #'s on tirerack, the best tire currently out.
If you don't want to spend the scratch for the S03s, I recommend the Sumitomo HTRZ II's. Very good tire, and not too expensive.

I'll second the motion that these tires suck my a$$.
i have the kumhos and they are really good tires for the price you paid for. like you i dont drive fast in the rain so i dont know how well it grips but it seems like its pretty good.

Basically your looking for the best on every aspect for a cheap price?
I have SO-3's on my stock rims, the grip and turn in is awsome. They are also the best tire I have ever driven on a rain drenced highway with. I have about 7k on them and they still have alot of tread left. For the money and performance SO-3's are next on my 17's once these ****to 450's wear out.

I've got Kumhos and I love them... Ive had them for about 25k miles... and they still have 60-70% tread left... but yea I agree... these things are a tad squirly in the rain... but just take it easy, and you'll be fine.
Have had them on for 10000 miles now and they perform very well in the wet & dry conditions. The only problem is the recent occuring road noise due to cupping on the inside edge. The Gen 2 RE730 is answering this phenominom with a redesign in tread pattern. Bridgestone will be sending a rep out to look at my tires (alignment every 8000 miles and R&B every 4000) and hopefully will prorate me to the Gen2. I paid $104/tire.
I would suggest the Dunlop SP5000s. They are an ultra high performance all-season so you get great grip all around wet or dry. They last long and are very quiet.
Also the new Dunlops FM901s seem interesting. They are replacement for the W10s.
