Hey i was tryin to tint my taillight today for my 5th gen, just the white part but it isnt working so well...=( when the tint curves to the side of the light it starts creasing up...anybody have any solution???plz help because it was goin good till that part =\ thanks
I've heard of people using some type of spray tint. Aaron (97blacklude) had it on his car. Do a search and you should be able to find something about it. Or does anyone else know?
I've seen a spray paint that's like transparent that's made for the type of project you want to do. It comes in red and smoke colors. It come in a packaging with like japanese writing on it or something.
cleaned the tails off real well with paint thinner, then did about 4-5 light coats so it wouldn't run.
After about 2-3 weeks, i applied rubbing compound to them, and waxed them because the spray tint will leave a rough finish, that looks sorta ****ty up close.
here's a pic from kinda far away..

Yeah, what do you guys think. I was wondering about tinting the headlights and taillights a little with the smoke tint, but I'm not sure. My car is black and I don't know how it would look.
I've done it to mine... The best thing you can do is make sure yo have plenty of tint... and when you get to the curve, pull the tint (kind of like strecthing it) and at the same time, slowly tape it to the lights. Mine worked out great...
thanks alot sceptre, i was thinking should i be using softsoap at the same time? because all i use was a grip of water...would soap help slide my tint? but thanks for that info...!
That looks really good on the silver lude. Anybody got pics on a black lude and if you somebody could do a write=up on how to tint the lights, that would be really great.
there is a celica person who custom makes vinyl tint stickers that is precut for celica tail lights and sidemarkers. would it be different than the tint yall are using? should I try to bring him interest to PO.com?
I was planning on using that spray for my front turns (cause with the JDMS there is so much damn clear up front)...and Chris, your pic of your tailights made me want to do it more!
i'll post some pictures of my ride with the tiniting as soon as i'm done with it, since many of u wanted to see it in a black lude.. looks nice when i was tryin it yesterday until i hit the corners it started creasing..but i'll try the info given from u guyz...i would be using 35% tint thanks fellow luders..

35% isn't dark enough.......it will get beat up by the sun and fade into a really like grey
You're using tint? Like the same ones on the windows? I'm sorry... I thought you were using transparent tape (which is what I used). I don't think you can do it with tint... it's too "crisp" (for lack of a better word)
you can't use window tint on the outside of the lens...it will last at most a couple days or one run thru the car wash lol...i am gonna pull my lens off and paint the inside of the housing (chrome part) black....only on the bottom half where the lens is clear though
