Just got a 01 base prelude, seems to have had the crap driven out of it. 102k miles just did engine swap for a 35k h22a, and put injen short ram intake on it and upgraded the audio, all else is stock as far as I know.
It rides rough, and seems to sit low on the stock suspension and I think it’s time for a change. I live in Raleigh NC and the roads are a bit rough, loads of pot-holes. I am looking for relatively inexpensive struts that will give a smooth ride but still handle well, any recommendations?
I have checked AutoZone and advance and their cheapest are Gabriel Ultra and Monroe Sensa-Trac's respectively, since they are cheapest (~$70 a strut) wasn’t sure if they are just POS or act as OEM replacement.
Next step up that advance offers is KYB AGX at ~$145 a strut. I found other threads saying that the KYB AGX's are good low cost struts.
I don’t have much spare cash after the engine swap, intake, and audio and am looking to make this as inexpensive as possible.

You didn't search very well. You can get KYB AGXs for under $400. However, if you like stock, just get a used suspension from a member.

those were the prices as from advance store, only considered that because i was wanting to do this thursday because i was going to be free, after further looking it to the KYB's i found that no advance around actually had them on hand and theat they would have to order them. knowing that i have since found the set (FR, FL, and 2 rear) all for just under 350.
wouldnt want to go with used suspension, thats just asking for trouble.

You can get a full set of tokiko blues on ebay pretty cheap. Blues are essentially OEM replacement.

KYB GR2s are also OEM replacement. That's a good choice if you're keeping the stock springs.
