ticking noise in neutral

when im just sitting there in neutral there is a ticking/knocking sound coming from somewhere near the tranny, but when i push the clutch in it completely dissapears, any ideas?

Could be a clutch release bearing.

and how would i go about fixing that? just a new clutch?

Pretty much since that bearing would have to be replaced.
