Those who have changed their balancer shaft belt...

The balancer shaft belt has a manual tensioner with a spring. When I let the tensioner set the belt tension, the belt seemed really loose, so I tightened it a little tighter than what the tensioner did. Now, I have that "supercharger whine" sound that other people have described when getting their timing belt changed, and I was wondering if maybe it's because I should leave the belt loose. (I changed the autotensioner and timing belt to get rid of the rattling sound so I'm pretty sure it's not that belt.)

Has anyone else who has changed their balancer shaft belt thought that the belt tension as set by the tensioner seemed pretty loose (MUCH looser than the tension on the timing belt)? If so, did you tighten it any further or leave it as the tensioner set it?
