thinking about buying a prelude, does it seem legit?

"red, 5 spd, will throw in parts, apexi air controller and aem high velocity fuel rail and fuel filter. Runs great, great gas mileage. Need the money so downgrading to something older. willing to trade for a honda and some cash. love the car and dont wanna part with it. Rear brake calipers and pads and rotors changed out bout 4 mnths ago. Needs nothing ready to roll. 7000 obo"

does this sound like a good deal?
i haven't been able to look at it, and i don't know how many miles are on it...
anything that i should look for while looking for it, like the common problems with a 2000 prelude?
thanks in advance haha i kinda really want a prelude now

Fuel rail is suspicious. No reason for that to be on the car. Can't tell you any more until you go check it out.

Google "fuel rail"

I'd ask why it's on the car.

Idiotic previous owners are really the only things you need to worry about. And don't buy a sissy-tranny version.

noobs posts sure can be painful sometimes, kronn's answers always make me laugh. I would say look for a stock lude over that one. Fuel upgrades are more than suspicious. And also, there is no way to judge whether a car is "legit" or not based on that incredibly bleak description with no pics or real info. Can you post the for sale ad? Or any pics?

That's partly why I do it.

^ +1.the pearl white preludes are beautiful and i hate white cars.my 5th gen is black and I actually wish I had bought a white one.the fuel rail thing definitely sends up some red flags but manual preludes dont really have any kind of specific problems that any other car doesnt have.just be careful and search thoroughly.good luck.if you do buy a prelude you will not be disappointed

The 1st Preludes had problems but by 1999 , except for the auto transmissions, they were all pretty much fixed. Before I would buy a Prelude , I would check to see how much smoke is coming out of the exhaust because its a good indicator of the condition of the engine, whether or not its been abused, and how much oil its consuming.I differently would not buy a lude that has been modified in some major way because such a modifications can effect the longevity of the already 9 + year old car your considering purchasing..

so that means the red one is out,
i'm gonna go look into the white one,
maybe that one will be good,
i'm gonna get a compression test done too just to make sure.
thanks for the help

Don't listen to him. The "problems" thing is mostly garbage.
