For all of you guys that dislike washing their cars during winter (specially the northern va peepz)
I took my car to a carwashing place (embassy) here in springfield, va, because its pretty freakin cold outside during the winter and im not bout to freeze my butt off washing it...nehow...
well i took it to their carwash twice and both times it left a 3 foot long scratch, worse then key scratch marks on the side of my car....
ill prolly get an insurance claim saying ma car was keyed but juss trying to let you all know and warn you guys about even the simplest things as a car wash...they can break your heart
oooh that sucks man.
That's why I take mine to a place where you spray it yourself.
I don't bother wiping it down though in the winter. Just spray off the dirt and I'm off. Hope you get that fixed from insurance.

well i hand washed mine today and DAMN IT WAS COLD. But i found the secret is to put hot water in the bucket that way when you dip the mit in it warms yr hand. im so glad i did it though, makes my baby look some much happier
An automatic car wash has never touched our Lude and never will. In fact, if we take it to the dealership to get worked on, we leave a note in the car "PLEASE DO NOT WASH". Otherwise, they'll wash it with dirty mitts and leave scratches everywhere.

I bargained with the service guy that if they washed my car despite my "no washing" order (for the third time in a row) I'd get my 15k service for free. They washed it. I got the service for free
The only washes I use are touchless washes which work pretty well if you can find them. They do not get all the grime off the surface (you need physical contact for that - either soft cloth, brush or by hand) but they do get rid of most of the salt, etc.

The only automatic car washes I use are the "touchless" variety at do-it-yourself car wash places. If the weather is bad, I wipe it down with warm water and an Absorber...my car is garaged.

I hate taking my car to the carwash. I don't like people washing my baby. But, I have to admit, the 4 times that I have taken the car to get wash they have done a great job. No scratches what so ever. Well no big ones anyways. Maybe is because I always give them a good tip. But, us NJ don't have a choice. Theirs a water emergency in place. The reservoir in my county is down to 38%. Normally is at 83%. No car washing at home. I'm actually looking forward to the rain. Summer will suck if I have to take my car to get wash every 3-4 days. I'm about to go outside and do the rain dance. Anyone wants to join me?
I've had a spoiler ripped of my car from an automatic carwash. Needless to say I've never been back. I also had to sue the owner b/c he claimed the spoiler was loose, even though it ripped the bolts through the trunk lid!!!

There is NO WAY I would ever put my car through a car wash and I would never let anyone else clean it. The only person I let clean my car is my Dad (when I am sleeping). I wash it by hand every Sunday and occasionally I will also use a spray jet wash at a petrol station. It is not a good idea to use it close up (if it is a high power one) 'cos it doesn't the paint/lacquer much good.
How long does it take people to hand wash their Preludes? This involves shampoo and dry, no wax?
if you've been there once and it they scratched your car, why would you bring it there again
well i wasnt sure if it was the carwash the first time, because i let my friend burrow my prelude and i burrowed his...and his prelude had been keyed almost 5 times and i thought it was done at his neighborhood...
i only realized that i had those scratches an hour after i got the car back and after the carwash, so i had no way to link the scratch to the carwash, didnt even come to mind...
it was after the second time that i realized those bastards were to blame, but once again the second time, i had already left the carwash facility and was at home when i found the scratch...
if i dont get insurance claim...im going to take it in again for the third time and hope for the best (another scratch)
