temp. gauge isn't working

So im driving about 2 weeks ago and i pull up to the spot where my race team hangs out and it says my temp. is max'd out and hot as hell.
i waited about an hour and it still read the same thing.
so i ended up driving home and in the morning i started it up and it said the same thing.
i unplugged the thermostat switch, and it said the same thing so therefor i know its not the thermostat. and it is the gauge.
anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it????
thanks,
brock

Are you sure you unplugged the right harness? The one on the thermostat housing doesn't relate to the temp gauge on the dash. That one is used to control the radiator fan. You want to unplug the ect sending unit. It's right under the distributor.

Ya my 98 lude did the same thing for awhile. But my needle was below C. Check your fluids. You'll never know. Lol
