Tein SS's vs Tein HA's

Does anyone here have any experience with the new Tein SS on their 5th gen Lude?

The difference between them is that the HA's can have the pillow ball if you want it and the spring rates are F:12k and R:10k and SS's are F:8k and R:4k.

I'm not sure which to pick since I won't be getting the pillowballs anyway.

Any help would be appreciated.

ya please post by whatever you find out about the SS vs HA

I just know the HA are more aggressive. And they only sold in japan.

While the SS is a slightly watered down versino and sold in the US.

The difference is $1400 vs $1000 i think.

Nah, I can get the HA w/out pillowball for $950 and the same goes for the SS which I can get for $950.

I know the HA is more agressive so I am leaning towards it but I am also worried about bounce or some crap like that.

If u are in NorCal i think evilpenevil can hook you up with that 950 deal, even cheaper if paid cash. Its out of Bozz Performance. Anyways, I wouldn't want the pillowballs cause I heard it causes a lot of rattles.

u can use pillowball mount on both if u wish.
the HA has stiffer springs than the ss, the HA also has a helper spring and the ss has none.
i think both use the same shocks.
ss more for daily driving and some weekend auto x .
the Ha would be stiff for a daily driver.
i got the tein ss.

What I don't like about the SS is that the rear spring rate is awefully soft in comparison to the fronts which could mean more understeer than the HA's.

The springs that come with the HA are F: 12kg/mm and R: 8kg/mm, not 10kg/mm. But you can order the HA with 10kg/mm rear springs if you request them to do so. And I think the HA is just fine for the daily driving. They're pretty stiff but it doesn't really bother me. The noise from the rear was the only downside that I see, but I'm used to it already (I've been running on them for 3 years and 2 months).

ss? you mean sustech springs? not sure, but if its like the type NA's, go for the HA's. i have HAs on my lude and NAs on my 2001 G20. the NAs dont have nearly the capacity of the HAs. HAs ride very smooth even on bumpy roads if set at 13-14clicks from full hard. the sus geometry is different from a lude to a g20, so its not a direct comparison, BUT, if they sold HAs for the g20, I would have gotten that for sure.

you really dont need upper pillow mounts for street use, but i have it on my lude because i use to carve the roads of malibu every weekend when I was in LA.

The SS are new. They use the same shocks as the HA, but with way softer spring rates

i really thnk its a personal opinion - subjective- in stiffness of ride. how one person describes harsh different from another person.
like me- i do daily driving 60 miles a day and dont auto x. to me having the tein ss is more practical.
i have not done any auto x so if i would describe something as to stiffness and harshness might be different from another person,s view.
like boyguan - daily drives his lude and describes the HA's harsh on the streets.
and - vwong describes it as fine for daily driving.

so if u are an auto x er- go with vwong s opinion.
if u are a daily driver- go with boyguan's

Well, I don't auto-x yet. But I plan to in the future and I also do a LOT of backroad storming so I guess I should probably stick with the HA's. Thanks for the input guys.

i like my friends HA's way better then my Koni/GC setup. I *think* i have stiffer spring rates then the Tein SS. 475lb front and 400lb rear. The HA just feels so much more solid and controlled compared to my Koni/GC. I might just get my Koni's revalved to be even stiffer bound and that will be close to what the Tein's shocks are valved to. But i Definatley reccomend the HA
