Tanabe Sustec Pro S-S. 1992-1996 & 1997+ Preludes. Are the pillow balls upper mount set really needed?

My personal opinion is that the Tanabe Sustec's are not worth the money. Your money is better spent upon the Progress coil over system. This being due to the fact that the shock body is still as thin as the OEM one, along with the fact that it's shortened, you're actually getting less available motion than on the OEM one. If I was going to get a new coil over system (currently Tein HA's w/ pillowballs) I would get the Progress one, or get the GC/Koni combo. Why? It's because the Tien's are STILL not rebuildable inside the US along with the fact that their surfact coat SUCKS big time. Luckily enough I live in California and never have to deal with road salt or any really harsh road conditions so it's alright.

Well thats the problem, i deal with road sal and such harsh conditions so i need a good coilover than wont rust and die on me after a year so im looking for ideas, Tanabe *no* Teins *no* progress i had their springs before they sucked!!! and u think their coilover is better.

Why do you think so poorly of their springs?

In any case, the only thing I can reccomend is the Koni/GC combo then. The GC's have a good adonizing coat on them, I'd post something up asking for those who have the setup if they have any problems with rust.

Then you're REALLY lucky or clean those things off all the time. There have been some issues with the Tien's spring mounts rusting though and snapping off the shock. Personally I can't justify the risk. Heck, even here in California I'm having a few surface problems with rust. I can't imagine how you're not getting any issues with rust or oxidation.

damm rust that sounds bad, is it the piston thats rusting also on the TEINs or just the shock body area. Could you just take them off and sand them down and have a bodyshop paint and clearcoat them to get rid of that problem. I had the Ground controls on my sentra se-r with koni's and the car was hopping alot with 17inch and factory rims and tires, i donot know if my lude would respond the same way, i might stick with koni and neuspeed sport springs . Someone on the board said once that with the neuspeed your car would not sit even in the back so there no perfect way to lower a car. aww well

Damn. Im really happy with my ground control/koni setup. Its a little noisy every once in a while, but the quitest coilover setup ive ever been in. I dont see how Teins are all that better ?
