Tail Light out...not the bulb!

Ok this is going to sound like a dumb question, but my right tail light went out, and as i went to undo the bulb it came back on; as if jiggling the connection helped. Now, it's out again, and no amount of jiggling helps even with a new bulb. Did the housing just go out? Is there a short somewhere? Is there a fuse for this? It's the tail light, not brake or turn, just the ones that light up when you turn on your head lights. Is this a common thing or am I going to have to take it to a mechanic and have them troubleshoot this.

My right tail light did the same ****...i just wiggled the wires around and it worked...i would start by taking off the inside panels in the trunk maybe a ground is loose or something..better to check it yourself..before taking it to the dealership
