I think a tach made for your a-pillar would be too small to read the rpm's. If you don't want a huge one, just stick with your stock one and get a shift light.

i wanna say apexi makes a smaller tach than autometer does. it has a progressive shift light system located within the tach itself and not attached to it like on autometer's. there are 3 small LED bulbs there where one light will flash at one preset rpm point, the second at another, and a third at a final rpm point just to indicate where you're rpms's are at as opposed to autometer's single shift light. i could be wrong about the manufacturer, it could be apc that makes it or a whole other brand i forget. sorry if this doesn't help, but i do know there is one available. they're definately not as overbearing as the autometers may seem to be.
