suspension setup questions.

Ok, I am looking into getting a better suspension for my '01 lude. I am not a big fan of really low looking cars. I probably wouldn't mind my car being lowered no more than .5 inches. I don't plan on getting 17" wheels ever.

I have heard of so many manufacturers that make quality stuff. What would you suggest I buy for a more sportier set up. Maybe the stock setup is good enough but I don't know.

I assume I would need to get springs and shocks. I guess I am just uninformed when it comes to this as this is my first real car that I can do some mods on. My other car was an alero and then a nova so those type of cars you really don't spend time and money on improving them.

Give me honest thoughts and feedback. Oh, just some more background info. I put about 100 miles on during the day for my commute and the roads suck. Michigan roads are horrible, I already dented one of my rims. Thanks for reading.

Well I can't speak for others, but I lower the Lude primarily because it improves the handling of the car, as the center of gravity is lowered a bit.! It also looks DAMM GOOD TOO!

Back to ur Q, there isn't any spring in the mkt. which provides less than a 1" drop. Ur options are to go w/a coil-over set-up or retain ur stock springs while upgrading the shocks!

Most ppl here recommend the Koni Yellows, damper adjustable and also height adjustable(3 diff. mounting pts. I think?)

Now come to think of it, u could probably get a set of after-mkt springs that lower the ride by about 1", and place them over the Koni's at its highest perch setting. This would yield u approximately a 0.5-0.75" drop, almost stock looking!

I would suggest spring wise: neuspeed sports or h&r springs
shocks: koni's, kyb
strut bars: neuspeed or spoon
sway bars: s/t swaybars

So if I went with the "Sofsport Springs" from Neuspeed and KYB AGX or Koni Shocks I could get a slightly lowered car and still be able to handle rough roads and all season weather?

Would I need to get a camber kit as well?

My buddy had them along with bilsteins on his teg......I would personally take my Tokicos.......Neuspeeds are alright.....I dunno....I do know he bumped a curb and broke one of them though......I dont think they are a bad spring.....and as far as lowering it goes, without rims you can barely see 2"

Jake, I would recomend ST swaybars. I have the rear only on my 92si and it reduced the body roll back there significantly. It is about 3-4 times heavier than stock and MUCH stiffer

Yes, w/that set-up u should feel a pretty big diff. in the handling, primarily from the shocks, but not much in terms of ur "lowered" look though!

And you will NOT need a camber kit for the minimal drop.
(In general 1.5"+)

I have the Neuspeed Sports & KYB AGX's for almost a yr. now and things are fine!
