Suspension Help

Hello, I'm new to the forum so bear with me. I recently purchased a 1998 Prelude SH. The previous owner had crappy suspension system so I'm trying to resolve this. Right now, I believe it has Espelir springs (I think they have 1.5" drop?) and three blown shocks (struts).

I want to order new struts and because I need to replace the brake pads and rotors, I don't have enough money to replace the springs. I think I should go with adjustable shocks? That way, I could adjust the struts to work well with the current springs and new springs (I am not sure what I will replace the Espelir with yet - maybe Tein S?).

I was going to go with AGX but they are not compatible with type SH. Do you have any idea where/what struts that will fit? I'm hoping to order them today. Thank you.

M

Adjustable Struts are expensive. Around $500 for all 4. A cheaper performance non-adjustable alternative is Tokico HP (Known as Tokico Blues)

Why do you want the change the springs? Tein Super Tech is 1.5 drop.

You will find it hard to find struts/springs that ARE SH compatible. However, it does not matter since you can buy the BASE struts/springs as long as BOTH components are BASE. You cannot mix SH springs with Base struts, or vice versa.

Well, I was going to go with GR2 but I wasn't sure if GR2 and Teins would be a good combo. The springs I have is a 1.5" drop. I have no idea how to tell if the springs are still good. The car rides VERY rough so I'm assuming I will need to replace both, springs and struts.

Alright, I talked to KYB directly and they said they don't sell KYB struts for type SH. I checked online and could not find a single brand that will fit 1998 SH. The only thing I could find is the OEM struts and they're $105 each for the front and $97 for the rear.

Is this for real? No aftermarket struts for the SH???

How do I know if my springs are made for base type? If they are, then I can just get ANY struts? This doesn't really make any sense.
