After months of arguing and trips to the dealer, i am getting my engine replaced out for a new one. They are replacing some other things at the same time while its in. -> brake pads, tranny flush, new clutch/release bearing, wiper blades.. Is there anyone here who would recommend anything else? im thinking along the lines of - it would cost much more later on, but because they took the old engine out it saves them time to do it now.
yes man, here is a few things to do when your engine it out of your car man.....
motor mounts, either replace them or get new bushings for them, it makes a huge differernce and if your engine is out then now is the time.
Also the fuel filter, replace this as it is easy to get with the engine out.
When they put the new engine in ask about the timing belt, balance shaft belt, water pump. Perhaps replace the spark plugs, get the oil filter replaced; if it is possible then i would advise you to take you manifold and have it completly cleaned out and get the egr ports cleaned out, it is easy when the engines out. Also get them to replace your axel seals have them check over the other seals also just to make sure your not leaking out of your new engine man. And from there make sure evrything about your install goes according to plan and you will be fine man. Good luck and safe driving.
Make sure they don't install an engine with old oil sitting in it.

Both Kronn a bouk mentioned stuff that is making me question something that you, the OP, said in the original post....
Is the dealer installing a brand new, zero milage, hot-off-the-press engine? Or is it a used, rebuilts, or whatever engine, that is new to the car?
It is a Honda Dealer installing a brand new, zero mileage engine. Bought a warranty when i got the car their, engine was toast from day one. finally am getting the new engine in.

I highly doubt it is a new engine, perhaps a Honda rebuilt one. I am not even sure if Honda has any NEW H series engine, and if they do i am sure they would charge plenty more than what they are man, a brand new, zero miles, still in the plastic bag with a honda part number on it engine; i wish, tell me which dealer has these, i want one.
Rebuld is as good as new....................right?
There is a chance anyways. I gaurantee they have a stockpile of those things set aside purely for the fact that there are the people with extended warranties, and the people that simply want to buy a brand new engine.
I'm not saying I am right and you are wrong, I'm saying that there is a good chance there is still Brand new engined Honda has access to.
I had a warranty, and they tried a rebuild. They screwed up and as such Honda shipped a brand new H22 to the dealer. Its a honda dealership here in Ontario. I guarantee its brand new as they told me it was, and that they would have charged me over 6 grand for just the engine if i had to buy it. I'm pretty sure there is some sort of law, at least here in Canada that you have to provide parts for your cars up to ten years after they are manufactured. This means they have to carry new engines. would i ever buy one myself? hell no. not worth that much money, but under warranty it better be new.

What a great story to hear, this enlightened my week. Be nice if that happened to me! hahahahahahaha Brand new!
Its taken forever, and Honda didn't want to budge an inch on it... I will finally have it back this week though. I am quite happy that i will no longer stress out about my car!!
