I've only had driving experience with my Type SH. I got it new (2000 model). Stock, it was always a very competent handler. The first thing I changed was the tires. The stock RE-92's are truly awful abominations and I quickly swapped those for Bridgestone S-03's and later Goodyear Eagle GS-D3's. It did have a bit of body roll even when new so I installed Suspension Techniques swaybars front and back. That tightened up the chassis considerably. I was happy for another six years after that.
I later went with a Koni Yellow/Ground Control suspension with 400 front and 375 rear spring rates. The car does not ride harshly like this. To me, this setup is the way a Type SH should have come from the factory. It's very flat in corners, extremely stable and doesn't rattle your teeth. If it's a rainy day I will not drive all out and I need to be more aware of my entry speed on a corner but I prefer the car being set up this way.
On ATTS: with the diff turned off there really is a marked difference that tends back towards noticable understeer. With it, there is understeer but it is balanced out by powering through turns.
If the shocks, lower control arms and bushings aren't worn out I think the stock SH suspension is fine for most people after you've added solid aftermarket sway bars and a good set of tires.
