Stock Muffler on Tananbe RM Cat-Back???

For the last couple of months I've had problems with the sound quality of my Tanabe Racing Medallion cat-back exhaust system. I've checked the car, underneath the car, piping etc. for any unusual things but the car is fine.

The sound quality is crap and I was told by the aftermarket shop from whom I bought the exhaust system from was that the Tanabe RM exhaust had to be repacked or it was defective. I've contacted Mackin Industries via email and was given a number to call for technical/sales help but for the mean time can I replace the TRM muffler with the stock muffler but still be able to use the TRM piping and cat-back? I still have my entire stock muffler exhaust system but would like to know if this is possible?

Any recommendations or suggestions?

- Drew

I think my TRM still sounds about the same as it did when i first put it on. I has developed a little more rumble at idle, and became is little more throaty in the mid rpms. But before i go deaf, I'll probably switch to a more quiet exhaust. I think im getting over the "need to go fast" stage.

I'll give it a try when I have my AEM Big Brake Upgrade Kits installed. Since the car will be on a lift I'll have the Brake/Muffler shop mechanic switch the mufflers out. I can't stand the TRM anymore. I believe the glass-pack is worn out. Oh wells, we'll see what happens.

I think grew out of the loud exhuast stage. I took out my Apexi N1 and put my stock exhuast back on. Man is it so much quieter...hehehe... Anywayz I did try to see if the Apexi Piping would work with the stock muffler but it was too short. That was from my experience but you have the Tanaebe so it be different.
