No! the muffler is attached to the entire exhaust system, up to the cat.

U would need to cut the muffler and weld the new one on!

Really! I thought that the muffler part comes off somewhere along the rear pipeline and it is secured with a bolt....

Yea the muffler is easy to remove all u have is 2bolts on it. just use some wd-40 on the bolts/nuts.. best to use a impact wrench. and the rubber hangers makes it easier to take off. the rear muffler just unbolts to the b-pipe. and the b-pipe connects to the cat via 3bolts. hope this helps.

so all you need to do is to bolt it back on, right? do we need to apply anything to the surfaces that is being put together to avoid any exhaust gas from sipping out?

you will get a Ring whatever they are called or u can just use the stock ones..depending on the exhaust u get. they just go in between the pipes..you can probably just re-use the stock 0 rings.

The mugen came with 2 one for the cat to the b pipe and one for the p-pipe to the muffler/exhaust.. when u put it back on..hand tighten it..dont put it on crazy tight with an impact wrench.. just as much as u can do with your ratchet/hands .. if u think u have a leak..or smell nasty stuff..briefly like cover the exhaust with a towel or something and check to see if you hear or see the leak.. ive heard u hear a hiss where the leak is when u do it this way ..but dont stop up the exhaust for long..just briefly
