sometimes this is caused by the ecu retarding the ignition, or by lack of attention to maintenance of the motor.

many causes, including fouled plugs, low oil pressure, minor overheating, or a fouled up MAP sensor could be the cause.

need more info about the motor and it's condition to make any type of diagnosis.

remove the ECU/backup fuse located under the dash on the driver's kickpanel then reinstall it.

or disconnect the negative battery terminal then reconnect... but you'll have to reset the clock and radio presets.

Thats one way to do it, if you do it that way, make sure you leave it off for about 5 minutes...

If you'd like to know the easier way to do it... s e a r c h.

show me why you have to wait 5 minutes, and i'll disprove you.

there's no capcitance to maintain the on-board memory once the memory backup power is removed.
