I was just about to ask the same thing. It happened to me once and I nearly **** bricks. Also check for debris on and around the back of the pedal.

Are you POSITIVE its not a toyota!?

lol sounds like cruise WAS on, i've droped out of gear with cruise on and it jumped and hit the rev limiter (and on my new engine too! i almost cried).

you did the right thing though, if it ever happens again do the same thing. I get kind of pissed at the people "speeding" in their toyo's and having to have the police tell them over the loud speakr to turn off their car and pull the ebrake.

Dont they go over that in Drivers Ed? Isnt it at least common ****ing sense??!! wtf
