Starting problem, need HELP!

Hi guys...

I have a starting problem on my lude. I know its not the starter (recently replaced), alternator, or battery. Heres the problem,

When I start the car, the car does not do anything: Does not turn over or crank. I'm thinking its the "main relay", but not sure. This usually happens when its really hot or cold. Sometimes it happens to me at a gas station as well. When I finish filling up and go start the car, the car has the sympton stated above. After about a 10 min wait, it will start back up again.

Hope someone can help me out. TIA

That's sounds odd, but definatly electrical. I would get a circuit tester and if you have a helms follow their guide on what/where to test.

my 01 had the exact same problem last winter, sometimes it would start and other times, for no reason it wouldnt do a single thing... but recently its been a lot better, hasnt happened in a month, but im sure in winter time it will do it again, many times a week... i think it has to do with weather extremes and electrical stuff... not that i know anything about that stuff =P, but thats my guess.

is the green key light flashing? if not it could be the starter relay or the ignition switch itself.

Do you have a metal keychain? Have you placed your key around magnets?

I think I've found the problem. A Honda tech looked at it and think its the parking switch. I have an SS and when I park the car, I guess the switch is not engaged, so the car still thinks that I am still in gear, so the car won't start. He played around with the shifter and tried to start it and it did.

So when I have time, I will remove the center console and look at that switch and see if its loose or something. Thanks for all your help guys.

There is a brake switch in your pedal that could not allow you to remove it from park. I don't remember if you have to press the brake to start the prelude AT though.

I have a fully functional automatic shifter assembly that is for sale. All it's sensors, lights, switches are all in great shape. If you'd rather get the whole thing than some expensive switch from honda shoot me an offer. I could ship it out this weekend.

Well, if the green light is flashing when you try and start it, thats the immobilizer cutting the signal. You turn the key it ignition, and everything comes on. You turn it to "start" and nothing happens. Mine does it every once in a while...

You should be able to start in Neutral then to test out your theory.
