Hey guy's, well heres the problem as best i can explain it.

Car starts and drive's but after a few minutes of idleing it will randomly die. After it dies i cannot start it, a minute and a few cranks later and it will start again.. when it dies i lose all the lights on the dash untill i remove and return the key.

Have you had any wiring done lately, checked for grounding issues? Sounds like a random electrical problem, and those can be tough.

It could maybe be the ignition switch, but the car losing all power for the duration doesn't sound like that.

sorry, i wasn't clear before, when the car refuses to start.. the car turns over and does fire. but instantly after firing it dies. 7 - 8 cranks later and the car will remain running for 2-3 minutes then die again.

have been doing some reading.. and came across this

"Quote:
1. While drving the vehicle, the engine just quits. There is no stuttering, stalling, or engine misfires, it quietly just quits. The radio, heater fan, brake lights still work but not the signal lights.

2. Finally after 6 months of this unreliable and dangerous driving, it quit again but this time, it would not re-start.

When the key is turned to 'start', the engine did start but as soon as you released the key to spring back to the 'run' position, the engine would quit. Eventually, it would stay running but it quit reguarly after that. "

this seems to mimick my problem exactly. it was in a reply to an ignition recall.
how do i resolve this problem?
Seeing as i bought the car second hand and privately. does this ' recall ' still apply?

Yes the recall still applies. Call honda and give them your VIN. Just make sure the Motors not stolen xD.

strange, i called the local honda dealer and they informed me it no longer applies, sounded strange to me so i called the national honda branch who told me that my vehicle isn't even in thier database?? so even if the recall did apply, i would not be able to get this work done.
$160 for a new ignition switch. at least the car will work properly

Do more research before you pay, you should get it free.
